sudo apt-get install numlockx

If you need numlock on before logging in try using setleds in a rc.d or init.d script. Reference: https://www.redhat.com/archives/redhat-install-list/2004-June/msg00108.html
setleds -D +num < /dev/tty1

Doesn't work well, it lit up after you have entered the user credentials, I need it to be on when I shall enter them without to push the "num lock" every time
